The diagram above illustrates the jet streams (A, B and C) which pulsate the water into the area where wax-soluble or insoluble may be causing patient discomfort. 

The arrangements of these "jets" eliminates vibration of the tip. When attached to the Hydro Pulse® Irrigation System, the irrigation tip is weighted so the center of gravity is in the practitioner's hand further reducing fingertip vibration while allowing complete visualization of the tip inside the ear canal.

Other pulsating tip attachments had the disadvantage of jetting the water exiting the ear canal directly back at the working practitioner. In addition to being unpleasant, this was mighty distasteful! Even more serious, the jetting stream of water could cause excessive movement damage to the tympanic membrane, stapes and the cochlea. 

With the Grossan Ear Irrigator the illustrated jets spray water in an alternating pulsating manner so the wax is "rocked" out as illustrated below. 

As can be seen from the diagrams, the low pressure used for the water entering the ear canal lessens risk to the ear drum (D) while the jets (A, B, C) create the rocking action which effectively and safely loosens cerumen. The method is much more rapid and safer than any other treatment mow being used.

The ear drum is protected from excessive water pressure as cerumen is moved by "rocking" action until it exits the canal into a basin and not onto the practitioner. The tip itself is made from stainless steel with the openings placed at different levels so the pulsating streams strike off-center from each other. Ends of the tip are ground to an equilateral triangle so when the tip is inserted into the ear canal three channels are formed allowing water and cerumen to exit. Even the smallest diameter ear canal will allow excessive hydrostatic pressure to escape.
